‘0 to Podium’ to join Fajr festival

Iranian documentary ‘0 to Podium’ has been scheduled to be featured at the 35th edition of the Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

Sahar Massayebi’s film, premiered at Iran’s Cinema Verite, will be shown at the documentary competition section of the Fajr Film Festival in February.

The picture, produced by Mahtab Keramati as well as Tahoura Abolqasemi, stars Shahrbanou, Soheila, and Elaheh Mansourian, three Iranian female wushu champions.

‘0 to Podium’ narrates the story of the sisters, beginning from their homeland in Isfahan Province, ending at the international wushu competition in Indonesia.

The Mansourian sisters have brought several international titles to Iran from different global and Asian martial arts competitions.

Fajr Festivals are held annually in Iran during the Fajr Decade (literally meaning ten days of dawn), which marks the anniversary of the ten days from the return of Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic, to Iran (February 1) until the victory day of the Islamic Revolution (February 11) in 1979.

Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 35th Fajr Film Festival will be held in February 2017.
